For the majority of overweight people....life stinks!

We want to say goodbye to our XXL bodies for good!

We have tried all the diets in the World, some work (for a while), some are a complete waste of time and are only there for the benefit of the mad writers who come up with such crazy fad diets.

There is no doubt that the best form of diet is exercise, but not all of us are in a position to go out there and do it. The main reason for not getting out and running a mile, or go to the gym and use the treadmill, or cycle a couple of miles is....embarrassment!

We feel people will stare, laugh or be just plain rude. We have feelings, y'know!

But we would love to get out there...believe us! But we would look so daft in our jogging pants, wobbling everywhere! We would sweat like we've been running a marathon after only a few yards, we would be making horrible noises, coughing, with massive intakes of breath. We would have to stop every 110 yards just to catch our breath, we would get the stitch, our feet would be killing us, out backs would be aching at having to lumber all that weight around!

But yes, we should get out there, but wouldn't it be easier if we could lose those 'lumpy' pounds first and at least look the part?

Of course, it's all down to willpower. People say if you really wanted to lose the weight....you would! But we all know it's not as easy as that. We all know that eating is some sort of disorder, its a kind of drug to us. Try telling an alcoholic who's trying to quit to just have a small whiskey today, or a drug addict to just have one shot instead of three. It's impossible.

What we need is a kick start. We need a blast of motivation...we need quick results to keep us interested.

I found the Atkins diet worked wonders for me. I lost 60lbs in 5 months, and looked and felt great. But....it was soooo boring! It made meal times a chore, the food became boring and bland. But I looked good! What I should have done is go jogging, go to the gym, got on that bike. But I didn't and over the next 12 months the weight came back...and some!

Next I tried weight-watchers. This was great! This time I lost around 40lbs in 6 months and I could eat what I wanted. BUT....you had to log every detail of your day to day eating and make sure you didn't go over you allowance. Very easy to begin with because the weight was coming off, I was feeling good and didn't mind keeping a log. But...It became very, very tedious to count the points EVERY day...but I looked and felt good! What I should have done is, yes, you're right, gone out jogging, gone to the gym and got on that bike! But I didn't and the weight came back!

Two years ago, it finally sank in when I saw a photo of myself 12 months before, on a beach in Greece, looking fit and tanned. Then I saw a photo of me posted on my Facebook page by a friend taken only a day or so ago. I felt gutted! I was overweight, looking older than I am and with that 'God, I wish I was fit again" look!

So, I chose a diet, it didn't matter which one...(actually it was the Fat Burning Furnace one) but they all 'kinda' work, and I made it my goal to stick with it for just 4 months, no matter how hard it was. Then, when I had lost a certain amount of weight I WOULD go jogging, I WOULD go to the gym and I WOULD get on that bike....And I did! And now I'm reasonably fit, with absolutely NO diets, just a healthy attitude to stay fit. I take an hour out of my life each day to maintain my weight, the other 23 hours I can do what I like. I wear clothes that suit me, not just fit me, and I can climb hills without sounding like a distressed Donkey and without the pain! I feel happier, my wife feels happier and my kids love my healthy attitude to life.

What I'm really trying to say is, you don't have to be on a diet for years, but you DO NEED the motivation to start and you need to see results quickly or you will fail. I have listed a variety of diets on the left. They all work, they all do the job, and then it's up to YOU to maintain your weight by exercise. We all know it's not going to be easy, but believe me, it's only 4 months of your life losing weight, then it's just an hour a day to keep it off. Go for it!

You only get one chance at this life....its not a dress rehearsal, if you blow it, there's no going back. Get yourself motivated, get yourself fit and get yourself happy! Stop wearing those XXL clothes and start looking good. You're worth it. Every human being is different and every human being only gets one chance, make sure you make a change to your life....no-one else can do it...only You!
